NaviNet FAQ
Is NaviNet HIPAA compliant?
Yes. NaviNet is committed to the ideals of the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act of 1996 (HIPAA). We’ve taken steps to preserve the privacy and security of individually identifiable patient information transmitted via the NaviNet platform.
Here are some security and privacy safeguards that NaviNet has implemented to ensure that NaviNet is HIPAA compliant:
- Unique user name and password requirement – Protects PHI by assigning varying levels of access to data and functions according to an individual user or role within a provider office. Provides for accountability, disclosure and audit trails.
- Firewall – NaviNet’s firewall prevents unauthorized parties and traffic from accessing the platform.
- Encryption – The strongest encryption technology available protects data during transmission.
- Session timeout – The automatic log-out function protects inadvertent access to PHI if a workstation is left unattended.
- NaviNet Security Officer – The Security Officer is responsible for security-related issues and for enforcing security measures such as unique user names and passwords. NaviNet works with the Security Officer to help him or her understand how they can best protect your organization.
- Physical security – The NaviNet data center is protected by continuous video surveillance, security breach alarms and 24/7 on-premises Security Officers.
