We are excited to continue our NaviNet 2012 Expert Interview series this week with Shahid Shah, enterprise software and healthcare IT analyst, consultant, and entrepreneur.

We speak with a lot of physicians who are thinking about buying or are in the process of implementing an electronic health record (EHR) solution. A decision to implement an EHR is not just about technology, but about introducing important decision-making and change in a practice to gain maximum benefits.

Imagine you are sitting next to your CEO on Day 75 of your 90-day “probationary period,” and he leans over and says, “This is the weirdest conference I’ve ever attended.” If you’re in marketing, you advocated for your company to sponsor the conference, and you hope to be a “Day 76 probie,” your only response can be, “Weird great, right?”

We recently held our annual NaviNet Healthcare Forum, which brings together our health plan partners for a two-day dialogue on key industry trends, developments and strategic technology initiatives in support of this important stakeholder segment in the healthcare industry. It’s always exciting and informative to hear first-hand from our health plan customers about their focus, top priorities and challenges for the coming year.

 To say we were excited to have Todd Park, CTO of The Department of Health and Human Services visit our NaviNet headquarters would be an understatement.  Todd stopped by last week to share his insights on health innovation, highlight the opportunities we have to reduce healthcare costs and discuss using technology to improve the overall patient experience.

NaviNet was pleased to participate in the World Healthcare Innovation and Technology Congress (WHIT) in DC, where we were fortunate to participate in a panel as well as attend several interesting sessions. The sixth annual conference brought together health plans, government officials, providers and other healthcare stakeholders to educate and address “strategic, organizational and IT decisions” in the ever-changing healthcare industry.
