In his role as chief medical officer, S. Michael Ross, M.D., MHA is responsible for leading the clinical direction of NaviNet and providing guidance to teams developing NaviNet solutions and services to assist healthcare professionals and health plans in improving care delivery and quality. Dr. Ross is a veteran of the healthcare and health information technology industries with over 25 years of experience serving in a variety of roles spanning clinical care, executive leadership of managed care organizations and integrated delivery systems, and outcomes research.
Prior to joining NaviNet, Dr. Ross served as chief medical officer and senior vice president of Business Development at Prematics, a leading provider of mobile care management solutions. In this role, he was responsible for helping health plan customers optimally leverage Prematics’ e-prescribing platform to improve communications with providers and members. Dr. Ross previously served as vice president of Healthcare at Varolii Corp, vice president of Strategic Business at the University of the Sciences in Philadelphia and as chief executive officer of Advanced Concepts Institute, a USP research group focused on the adoption of health information technology and its impact. Previous experience includes serving as senior vice president and chief medical officer of HealthOnline, and founder and principal of Holisticos.
A pediatrician by training, Dr. Ross managed one of the most successful pediatric practices in Washington, D.C., and for three years was named one of the Top Doctors of Washington in peer reviews for Washingtonian magazine. After leaving clinical practice, he served as vice president of Medical Affairs and chief medical officer at MetLife HealthCare Network of South Florida Inc., where he managed a 4,000-member provider organization with more than 100,000 covered lives. Dr. Ross also served as executive director of Scottish Rite Pediatric Partners, a full-service MSO that provides practice management services to more than 100 pediatricians associated with the Scottish Rite Childrens Medical Center in Atlanta.
Dr. Ross received his Bachelor of Science and medical degrees from George Washington University, and his Masters in Healthcare Administration from Virginia Commonwealth University. He received his certification by the American Board of Pediatrics.
